The second half of the year seems to have fewer competition and magazine-window opportunities for me. I'll update them as the year progresses. Here they are -

  • 4th - VS Pritchett short story prize
  • 31st - Allegro poetry deadline - theme Geography
  • 21st: deadline for Poetry Wales submissions (especially on “Imagined Futures.”)
  • 31st - Winchester Poetry Prize deadline. 1st prize 1000. Entry fee 5.
  • Short Fiction. Deadline 31st.
• August -
  • 1st - Vestal review window opens (closes in Nov). $3 submission fee. $50 paid if published. 500 words max.
  • 31st - Munster poetry chapbook competition
• September -
  • 1st - Pure Slush window opens. Theme - 10.30 appointments
  • 1-7th - Lost Balloon window (1000 words max)
  • 1-30th - Ambit fiction window
  • Troubadour International Poetry Prize. 1st prize 2000. Entry fee 5. Deadline 27 Sep.
  • 30th - Deadline of Bedford Writing Competition for Stories (max 3000) and for poems. 1st prize 1000. Fee 6 (4 for students). See rules
  • 30th - Edinburgh Flash Fiction Award deadline. Max 250 words. 1st prize 600. See rules

• October -
  • The Dinesh Allirajah Prize for Short Fiction Free entry. 1st prize £500 (shortlisted authors will be featured in an ebook anthology). Deadline 23rd October. 2,000-6,000 words with the theme of 'Crime'.
